Selbsterntefelder, or self-harvesting fields (moreso 'plots'), allow users to harvest agricultural products over an entire season on a specific plot. These plots are typically set up, planted, and watered by a farmer or gardener (i.e. not by the harvester), though sometimes there is the possibility to grow your own vegetables as well.
Because contracts are usually for one year, perennial plants are not planted. Selbsterntefelder are usually not organised by a collective and require less interaction between the gardeners. Thus, community areas like children play areas, benches, and tables are often omitted.
